Gemini App

Google's AI assistant app

General Application

What it's used for

Gemini is Google's AI assistant, deeply woven into the Google ecosystem. It combines conversational AI with real-time access to Google Search, integration with Google Workspace apps, and powerful multimodal capabilities including image understanding, generation, and code execution.

  • Google Workspace integration — pull information from Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, and Calendar to answer questions about your own data
  • Research with citations — leverage Google Search integration for up-to-date, cited answers on current events and factual queries
  • Multimodal understanding — analyze images, documents, and screenshots; generate images from text descriptions
  • Coding & data analysis — write code, run Python in a sandbox, and analyze uploaded files
  • Creative content — brainstorm, draft, and iterate on written content with built-in fact-checking via Google Search

Professionals already embedded in the Google ecosystem benefit the most from Gemini, since it can search across Gmail threads, surface Drive documents, and draft content that references your existing work. The 1M token context window in Gemini Advanced makes it possible to process extremely long documents in a single conversation.

Gemini is accessible on the web, through dedicated mobile apps, and increasingly embedded directly into Google products like Search, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
